Pull the hood up on a Shell Beach morning and you get the whole Central Coast in one piece — marine-layer gray outside, a warm shell-pink lining where the light gets in.

It's a thick, brushed cotton fleece with real weight to it. Boxy drop-shoulder cut, roomy through the body, ribbed cuffs and hem so it keeps its shape instead of stretching out by March. Kangaroo pocket for your hands, your phone, and whatever else the morning hands you. The pink runs through the hood lining and the drawcords, so it only shows when you move.

Where it lives: over damp swim bottoms on the walk back from the water. Over leggings, hood up, coffee in hand. On the couch at four o'clock with the second cup.
